Professional Awesome Lancer Evo setting Buttonwillow Lap Record on CL Brakes Sintered Racing pads

12.05.2014

One of our customers sent us a nice email this morning detailing their accomplishments at the recent Global Time Attack / Super Lap Battle Finals at Buttonwillow. They took their 12th straight class win, and in the process crushed the class lap record by nearly 5 seconds! They had some kind words about the CL Brakes sintered racing pads that helped them get the job done. Check out the video below of their record-smashing lap. The squealing noises you'll hear are the sound of victory.

Here's what the team had to say:

Well it’s been quite a journey for the Professional Awesome team. Ever since the crash in May 2013, we’ve been designing and constructing a time attack machine that would provide a substantial increase in performance over the previous car. On November 14th at the Global Time Attack/Super Lap Battle Finals, all our hard work and effort paid off. By winning the Limited AWD class with a time of 1:44.062 we extended our winning streak to 12 straight events and reset a 4 year old lap record by 4.5 seconds. In comparison, Dodge proudly boasts about the lap time set by the Viper ACR of 1:55.70.
With this victory, our 2004 Mitsubishi Evolution VIII, driven by Jeff Westphal, became the 6th fastest time attack car ever to lap Buttonwillow. Considering this was our maiden event, with 1 test weekend completed on a brand new build, we are quite proud of our accomplishment and excited about what the future will hold. We will update you soon on our 2015 plans. As always, the CL RC-8 pads worked flawlessly. We switched from a boosted to a manual brake system, which had a bit of a learning curve, but after dialing in the balance, the brakes were excellent. We actually removed the cooling ducts for better aerodynamics and the brakes didn’t complain one bit.
