Pro Driver Review: Ferodo's Versatile DS2500 as a Road and Track Pad

03.02.2020

Cal Rydquist has now been successfully campaigning a Factory Five GTM for several years on Ferodo Racing pads, recently winning the Trans Am Super GT West Coast Championship in 2019. Carl also happens to have a GTM road car that he plays with on track from time-to-time. While we typically don't recommend the Ferodo DS2500 on heavier cars, their profile seemed to be quite a good fit on paper with this car. Carl recently put some road miles and track laps on them, and gave us his impressions of the incredibly versatile DS2500 compound"

“The DS2500 pads were (and are) fantastic on track and on the GTM. With my light car they had a race like quality to them, firm pedal, just right initial bite, progressive build up and easy to modulate. On the street they only needed one or two stops to develop good bite, also there's no brake squeal. The current setup had ZERO weakness and I was flogging the car at qualifying attack in two full 25 min sessions.”

We have been following Carl’s progression in the racing circuit, and as you may know from a previous blog entry, he has several championships under his belt and has become quite an accomplished competitor. We'd encourage you to check out his racing exploits during his next few appearances:

  • Mar 14 – 15th Sonoma Trans Am West Coast
  • Apr 4 – 5th Thunderhill Trans Am West Coast
  • Apr 18 - Buttonwillow (3hr) NASA WERC Enduro
