PCA Club Racer Sweeps GTB1 Class on AP Racing by Essex Compeititon Brake Kit

05.15.2026

We always enjoy hearing from our clients, especially when they have a success story from the track! Chuck has a 2014 Porsche Cayman S that he races wheel-to-wheel with Porsche Club of America (PCA) Club Racing. After trying a now defunct competitor's brake kit, and an underwhelming OEM+ caliper option, he finally decided to take the plunge on our AP Racing by Essex Competition Brake Kit. It didn't take long to realize he'd made the right decision. Case in point: during a recent GTB1 class event, not only did he qualify first, but he ended up winning all three of his races!

Here's more context and feedback from Chuck, in his own words:

"Started around 10 years ago driving a street 997 gt3 that was slowly modified to a DE car. Sold that for my current race car around 4 years ago. Started with a stoptech big brake kit which I did not like. Too much knockback and inconsistent pedal . then went to gt3 calipers, OEM, still couldn’t get a consistent pedal and had lots of pedal fade throughout a race. Finally, this past offseason, bit the bullet and got the front AP calipers- totally changed the car- consistent pedal, no fade whatsoever. Could, lap after lap, count on the brakes to do what I wanted them to do. So much so, this past weekend at the PCA Club Race, I came in P1 qualifying and swept all 3 races, P1! I cant wait to add the rear calipers next! I will 100 percent tell my fiends around the track as well as clients thru the motorsport division of my business the quality and consistency of these brakes!"
